ABOUT THE BREED

The Saint Berdoodle Breed:

Have you heard the term gentle giant? This breed truly is like a big teddy bear! They will crawl up on your lap like they are a 5 lb lap dog which is definitely not the case, but that is why we love this breed! They are the most loyal, laid back, intelligent, and loving pets. They always greet you like you have been gone a lifetime. You may wonder why someone would get this cross instead of a St. Bernard. This cross has a few key points that make them even better! You will see much less drooling in these guys. The life span increases by several years because this cross is hybrid vigor. With the health testing we do you are also increasing a healthy life span! Poodles consistently rank one of the top for intelligence. St Berdoodles are such fast learners. They are all about pleasing their owner and with the proper training they are sure to not disappoint. Although this breed is one of the lower energy doodles they are much more active than a St Bernard. Our personal life style is very active to outdoors our St. Berdoodles love it more than anything but they also love our long lazy days on the farm. They truly will adapt to your lifestyle they just want to be included! We raise them around kids from the time they are born and you really can not get a better family dog than this.

Difference between F1 and F1b.

F1 is a half Saint Bernard half Standard Poodle. Benefits of having this cross is you are going to get  bigger dog, but chances of shedding could be higher. It just depends on if the dog takes after mom or dad. Mom is always the Saint and Dad the Poodle. I would be very concerned as a breeder if those roles were reversed. Coat on the F1 always seems to fade if it is a longer Muppet coat. If your coat takes after the Saint Bernard it seems to keep the coloring and not fade as much.
SIZE of your f1 male will be between 110 and 130 lbs. Female will be between 90 and 110 lbs. This is just a average guess. Your dog could get bigger or smaller. Going by past clients,

F1b is a Saintberdoodle bred back to a Standard Poodle. This is becoming a very popular cross due to the fact they are more hypoallergenic to the allergy suffers. This cross will be smaller than the F1 cross. I notice on this cross they seem to keep their coloring.
SIZE of your f1b will be between 90 and 110 lbs.
I often get asked about personalities. You are going to get the amazing personality on whatever cross it is!

Examples of Mason Creek Saint Berdoodle coats: Straight, Medium, Long (Muppet)
Lets talk coats.  Saint Bernard coats can be short haired or long haired. A short hair, also known as smooth coat, will have a dense smooth coat. A long haired, also known as rough coat, will be medium in length and wavy. With the different Saint Bernard coats it is hard to predict what they will look like. Here are a few examples of puppies we have produced.
These are also examples out of different parents:

This is Knick Knack. He is a phantom in coloring F1 straight coat who I assume probably sheds and requires little to no grooming. He also kept his coloring nicely. I very rarely get these coats, but it is possible.

Finn is a F1 with a medium wavy coat. He has some shedding, but less than straight haired dogs. He requires minimal grooming, but looks adorable once that beard is freshened. You can see how much he has lighted.

This is our very own, Epic! She has a medium coat with brindle in coloring. Her coat is very soft and doesn't seem to matt if we go longer periods between grooming. From experience it is a very low maintenance non-shedding coat, that we love. You can see lots of pictures of her through out our website. She is out of Rossi and Brazen.

Our past F1s Kevin, Bruce, Tule, and Kona all have medium coats. Minimal grooming required. Bruce's owner tells us that he leaves poofs of fur around the house, but does not leave any on them.
I feel like there are 3 different medium coat types. All adorable just different.

Louie is what I call a Muppet. He has a long coat.  He requires maintenance,  grooming, and can become matted very easily if not kept tended to. We take our Willow who also has a Muppet coat to the groomer every 8 weeks.
Feel free to message with any questions. Of course the prediction of a coat is never a sure thing.
